The FBR’s digital invoicing service involves several key steps and requirements for mandatory compliance: 

1. Generate a digital invoice: Businesses must use FBR-approved software to generate invoices in a structured electronic format, such as JSON.
2. Submit to FBR: The software automatically sends the invoice data to the FBR’s system through a secure connection using an Application Programming Interface (API).
3. Receive confirmation: The FBR validates the invoice and sends back a confirmation, which includes a unique Invoice Reference Number (IRN).
4. Issue QR-coded invoice: The final invoice includes a QR code, which can be scanned by customers or tax officials to verify the sale.
5. Digital signature: The invoice must also contain a digital signature for added security and authenticity.
